About Jason Barry Stables:

Jason Berry Stables is home to the IHSA team as well as many other JMU Equestrian riders. Located about 25 minutes from campus, riders carpool to lessons, giving incoming students a great opportunity to meet new people. JBS houses several school horses varying in level and ability that are able to accommodate beginners through advanced level riders. The grounds surrounding JBS has beautiful views. The facilities include three barns, an all-weather surface outdoor ring (currently under construction), an indoor ring, an enclosed training round pen, a heated wash / grooming rack, and many more wonderful features.

About Jason:
Jason started riding as a teenager with Sarah Irvine in Raphine, Virginia.  After that, he went on to work for Olin Armstrong. He gained valuable insight and expertise training and showing young TBs.  He also worked for Chris Wynne in Virginia Beach showing client horses.  He then accepted a job offer from Danny Robertshaw in Camden, South Carolina.  After traveling the circuit and spending the winter in Wellington, Jason decided it was time for him to come back home to Virginia.  He worked for Phyllis Jones in Crozet, Virginia while starting his own business.  He also worked for Mr. Wheeler at Cismont Manor Farm. 

After 2 years of showing horses for Cismont, he chose to concentrate on bringing his own horses along and building his own business.  In  2009, Jason had an unexpected opportunity to complete a 2 year fellowship at Sweet Briar College.  He felt this was an important stepping stone to rounding out his knowledge.

With the knowledge that he has gained working with some of the greats in the hunter industry, he is now operating his own very successful training, showing and importation/sales business.  Jason has taken great interest in bloodlines and has found that pedigree can be very important in evaluating a horse's potential to do his job.
