Academic Year 2020-21
With the COVID pandemic limiting university activities, our IHSA region was unable to hold a typical competition season. Though our team did not compete in intercollegiate shows this year, many riders were able to strengthen their skills at JBS and compete at local SWVHJA shows. Successful combinations included: Morgan with both Cadbury and IamwhatIam (Toby), Trinity and All Rise (Blaze), Allison with both Bella D'or (Bella) and Stamford (Saxon), Meghan and Sabre Springs (Orlando), and Sydney and Elixir (Mikey). These JMU horse and student combinations competed at venues including the Virginia Horse Center, Memory's Hill Stables, and Clover Grove Farm.
Scheduled for March 21, 2020
Two JMU riders qualified for IHSA Regionals during the 2019-2020 show season. Senior Nicole Herzdik qualified to compete in Novice Equitation, and sophomore Sydney Spevak qualified for both Limit Flat and Limit Fences. Unfortunately, the 2020 IHSA post-season was cancelled due to COVID-19. We are very proud of the team for a great season and these two individuals for qualifying for regional finals.

What a wonderful time JMU Equestrian had at the 30th SWVHJA Annual Horse show!

Lindsey Morris aboard Sabre Springs (Orlando) had an incredible ride to take home the SWVHJA Adult Flat Equitation Championship - the class included all sorts of flat testing including several tricky maneuvers without stirrups! Way to go! Lindsey and Orlando also won the Randolph Medal! They also earned good ribbons in the Special Adult division. Additionally, Orlando took home the Reserve Championship in the Hopeful Hunters - finishing 2nd in both O/F classes
Sydney Spevak and Lusso (Smarty) took home the 7th place award in the SWVHJA Junior Flat Equitation Championship and had some awesome rides in the Children's Hunters!
